Sculpture from the “Confessors” series
The “Confessors” is a series of works conceived in the Ceramics Studio at the Faculty of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, under the guidance of Professor Stanisław Brach. These pieces explore themes of loneliness and closeness. They represent my search for a connection between humanity and a higher power. They encourage self-reflection and serve as a kind of intermediary between humans and “the higher.” At the same time, they demonstrate that we, as individuals, can connect with the areas of the world that matter to us without the need for guides or gurus. Everything we need is already within us.
This piece is currently on display at the pre-auction exhibition in the Station of Art Gallery in Warsaw. The auction will take place on December 10.
The sculpture was handcrafted using the coiling technique with white clay. It was fired using an alternative saggar method in a Hungarian kiln. This alternative firing method allows direct contact between the clay and live flames.
